The NGS promise on salt supplies - "We never let a customer down" When Britain is in the grip of a salt supply crisis, contractors, highways authorities, and private operators can turn to NGS and everyone receives the salt they require. NGS has a stockholding facility capability of 600,000 tons and in the last year have traded over 500,000 tons of pure white marine salt. Customers are able to benefit from the NGS core values of customer service and respect by answering all contact from customers 24 hours a day and having a 100% success rate of answering the customer at high demand times within 120 minutes night or day. NGS never turns its phones off and always supports its customers to find salt supply solutions. This is the basis for the NGS promise and its reputation for never letting a customer down - even during the times of crisis when salt supplies are running out. NGS is the UK's largest importer of white marine salt and one of the leading salt traders in Europe with the proven ability to deliver by ship, barge, or road - and this year has formed a teamwork partnership with AB Ports and DB Schenker Rail to dramatically reduce the number of trucks involved in distribution, slash carbon footprints, and deliver train-loads of white salt to over 100 rail freight terminals in England, Wales and Scotland. To this end Ngs with its partners is also looking at Pan-European Rail freight solutions. High Purity White Marine salt delivered to Southampton Docks from suppliers worldwide has very low impurities , fines and dust, such as those found in mined salt, and therefore can be stored outdoors without any cover and no degradation or loss of salt quality, with extremely minimal loss of quantity. These qualities in white salt also means savings with lower spread rates and more efficiency with blow off and less trafficking being needed. NGS is a well-respected supplier of salt to the Highways Agency through its PFIs, European governments, through their contracts; British and European contractors, European councils and the managers of complexes such as shopping malls, hospitals, universities, and car park, and the company is now providing specially packaged white salt for the retail sector with its Branded product, Ngs Pure White De-icing Salt. The NGS Port facility in Southampton is now recognized as the European hub for white salt, where the salt can be graded, anti-caked, crushed, screened and stored to the variety of European specifications - then reloaded to ship, train or truck. High quality marine salt acts fast; and is more effective in smaller dosages than traditional rock salt. White salt leaves no stains on carpets and corridors, does not result in muddy, slippery surfaces, blocked drains, and works where it is supposed to, maximising safety for vehicles and pedestrians. It is the opinion of NGS that the higher moisture content of marine salt means it is equally effective, without the need for pre- wetting with salt brine. NGS suggests that the only effective brine pre-wetting solution to enhance the result of de-icing is with Calcium or Magnesium Chloride - and NGS now supplies both these products in both flakes and solution, and offers a saturator that can produce both these products ready for pre-wetting whilst road salting.
